Eco-Friendly Home Improvement Tips
Save the energy by installing solar panels for heating or lighting purposes. Use energy saving bulbs and florescent tubes instead of other bulbs as they consume less energy. Don’t put on lights which you do not need, especially outdoor lights. You can use motion sensors which will put on the lights when necessary.
The paint you use should be low in VOC, hence eco-friendly. You may also want to avoid wooden floors and instead go for tiles as they are cheap and easy to maintain.
For the bedroom, use eco-friendly mattresses made of latex rubber. Avoid using softeners on covers as some contain chemicals. The furniture can be cared for and get used to so as to avoid making new purchases.
Save water by repairing leaks. Avoid unnecessary heating by using thermostats to save energy. Create recycle bins for used materials that can be reused and tinted glasses can keep away unwanted heat.
